Boehner speaks with Obama, no details given

A House GOP leadership aide tells The Hill that Speaker John Boehner spoke with President Obama around 7 p.m. on Friday night but, it was unclear what was said in that conversation.

The Speaker's office released a photo of Boehner speaking on the phone, but did not give more details.

Meanwhile, leadership aides and GOP lawmakers made their way down to Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy's (R-Calif.) office space in the Capitol for a buffet-style dinner.

Reporters continue to hold vigil in the corridor immediately outside of Boehner's Capitol Hill office suite, in case of any developments.

Boehner was expected to release a statement at some point on Friday night with an update on the talks.

House lawmakers have been put on notice that the chamber could convene at any point during the night.
