Obama to hold town hall on economy

President Obama will hold a town-hall meeting on the economy on Wednesday hosted by CBS News, the television station announced.

Bob Schieffer from "Face the Nation" and Erica Hill of "The Early Show" will co-host the event at the Newseum in Washington.

The event will be broadcast Thursday morning during "The Early Show." Obama will take questions from a live audience and online.

The town-hall announcement comes the same day that new jobs numbers for the month of April were released. Overall, the numbers reflected well on the Obama administration, as the private sector added 268,000 jobs — a stronger-than-expected showing — even though the unemployment rate ticked up from 8.8 percent to 9 percent.

That increase could be from unemployed Americans who have begun looking for work again.
