Veteran GOP strategist Ed Rollins aiding Bachmann presidential effort

Veteran Republican strategist Ed Rollins said Monday that he's exclusively helping Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) with forming her campaign for president.

Rollins, who served as national campaign director for former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) in 2008, said that he was working with Bachmann to explore her presidential campaign.

He wouldn't say, though, whether he would serve as campaign manager if Bachmann does end up following through with her campaign, but he didn't rule out that possibility.

"It's totally premature to say I'm running it or not running it," he said.

But Rollins said it would be fair to say that he would be involved with the campaign if Bachmann, the Tea Party darling, does take the plunge and enter the race. Rollins confirmed that he's aiding Bachmann's efforts exclusively.

Rollins's involvement suggests that Bachmann may be moving closer to entering the campaign after months of flirtation with running. She's said she'll announce her decision this month in Waterloo, Iowa.
