Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) said he "likes" Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) despite their deep disagreements on a variety of issues.

Franken said that he personally enjoys the company of the Tea Party icon, telling The Advocate about the time Bachmann brought a variety of Minnesota treats to a "hotdish-off" in D.C.

"I like Michele. Whenever we’re hanging out together, when you’re in the same delegation, you just do," said Franken. "You just see each other, we fly on a plane together, we’ve gone to funerals together, we’ve cried together, we’ve laughed together."

The two might not seem like the most likely pair to get along, and Franken acknowledged the sharp political differences between the two, especially when it comes to the issue of same-sex marriage.

"I just completely disagree with her on this issue — and almost everything else," he said.

Franken said he probably wouldn't approach Bachmann on the issue of same-sex marriage, explaining that he didn't think it "would accomplish much."
