Former Capitol Police deputy chief arrested
Two congressional staffers, one a former deputy chief of the Capitol Police, have been arrested following an altercation Thursday outside the Capitol.
Larry Thompson, the one-time deputy chief of the Capitol Police department and current House Sergeant at Arms employee, as well as Brion Graber, legislative counsel for the Joint Committee on Taxation, have been charged with disorderly conduct — affray, a misdemeanor, stemming from an incident on the Southwest Drive of the Capitol.
According to sources, Capitol Police responded to a fight in progress at noon Thursday involving the two men, which reportedly began when Graber hit Thompson’s car.
“A staffer hit his car, and Larry Thompson grabbed him and started punching him,” an unnamed source told The Hill.
“We are still doing investigative work,” said department spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider.
Both men were detained and taken to Capitol Police headquarters for processing.
