The first meeting of the supercommittee on deficit reduction was interrupted by protesters Thursday.

Outside the committee room where the bipartisan panel of 12 legislators charged with finding $1.5 trillion in deficit reduction was holding its first meeting, protesters reportedly chanted, What do we want? Jobs now!

Staffers in the room poured out to see the protesters. The interruption came during remarks by Rep. Dave Camp (R-Mich.), who proceeded and said he would pass his statement on to fellow committee members later.

I didnt mean for my remarks to empty the room, but Im from a big family, so Im used to a lot of background, Camp said before continuing with his statement.
