Obama planning to watch Tigers-Rangers game instead of GOP debate

President Obama plans to watch the Major League Baseball American League Championship Series game between the Detroit Tigers and the Texas Rangers rather than the Republican presidential debate, according to a White House aide.

Obama told White House deputy press secretary Josh Earnest that he planned to watch the game instead of the Bloomberg/Washington Post debate Tuesday night, according to a White House pool report.

Earnest said that Obama would likely read coverage of the debate, and said he doesn't expect to hear anything novel in Tuesday night's debate.

"In terms of my own expectations I don't expect we're going to hear any ideas to create jobs and strengthen our economy right away," Earnest said Tuesday.

Obama's Chicago White Sox didn't make the 2011 playoffs this year. The Rangers are ahead two to zero in the seven-game series.
