Truck carrying Obama's teleprompter stolen

A truck carrying President Obama’s teleprompter, podiums and audio equipment was stolen on Monday but quickly recovered, according to an NBC12 news outlet in Richmond, Va.

The truck, which was carrying around $200,000 in audio and video equipment, was taken from the Virginia Center Commons Courtyard Marriott, and recovered around 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Holiday Inn Express near the Richmond airport.

“No classified or sensitive information was in the vehicle. We take incidents such as this very seriously and a formal investigation is continuing,” a Defense Information Systems Agency spokesperson told NBC12.

It’s unknown whether all of the equipment was recovered along with the stolen truck.

The president is on the second day of a three-day bus tour through North Carolina and Virginia to promote parts of his American Jobs Act.
