Huntsman buys condo in Utah
Jon Huntsman is once again living in Utah.
The Republican presidential candidate and former Utah governor recently bought a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condominium in his home state, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. The residence is located in Salt Lake City, Utah.
"I’m a resident of Utah, and I always want to be,” Huntsman said Monday. "I’d like to spend more time out there, but right now it’s all on the road."
The newspaper reported that the price of the new apartment had not been publicized. Huntsman sold his last residence in 2005 so he could move to the governor's mansion. After he finished his stint as the Obama administration's ambassador to China, for which he left the governor's position in Utah, Huntsman's home had been in Washington D.C.
Huntsman had recently headquartered his presidential campaign out of Florida, but after retooling his strategy with a heavy emphasis on New Hampshire, Huntsman moved his base there. Huntsman is hoping to reverse disappointing national polls and dominate in the New Hampshire primary, and use the momentum from that to catapult him to the head of the pack in subsequent primaries.
Although Huntsman hails from Utah, rival Mitt Romney has reportedly had more success raising money in the Beehive State. Bloomberg recently reported that the former Massachusetts governor has raised $1.9 million in Utah going through the end of September, while Huntsman has raised $255,850.
