Rick Scott agrees Radel should resign

Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) agreed with the state party that Rep. Trey Radel (R-Fla.) should resign from Congress after pleading guilty to cocaine possession last week.

"I agree with the party chairman,” Scott told reporters at a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday morning.

“Trey is going through a tough time. My prayers and my wife's prayers are with his family. But we have to hold all of our elected officials to the highest standards.”

The state’s GOP chairman Lenny Curry said Monday night that Radel should step down to focus on his treatment, which he checked into last week. Radel’s office said the congressman hopes to return to Congress soon.
