The disruption continued for about five minutes before the protesters were escorted out of the University of Iowa lecture hall.

“I’m going to try to talk over them,” said Mr. Gingrich. “I appreciate the 95% of you, maybe even the 99% of you, who will actually have an intelligent discussion and are not going to be drowned out by the 1% who try to impose their will by making noise.”

Gingrich has been a tough critic of the protest movement, telling them in an appearance last month that they should “go get a job after you take a bath.”
