President Obama is taking advantage of a crisp and bright spring Saturday with a round of golf, according to the White House.

The outing comes on a relatively quiet day in Washington, as the world watches a crucial election unfold in Afghanistan and the search for vanished Malaysia Airlines flight 370 heats up in the southern Indian Ocean.

Joining the president for the round are regular golfing partners Joe Paulsen and Marvin Nicholson, according to a White House pool report. The group arrived early Saturday afternoon at Andrews Air Force Base.

The weather this week has been less than cooperative of late for the "duffer-in-chief," but winter’s gloom appeared to be lifting in the capital, where cherry blossoms are beginning to bloom.
