Boehner: 'No idea' what Pelosi has on Gingrich
During a Wednesday interview on the "Laura Ingraham Show," House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said dismissively that he had "no idea" what information Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has about GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich.
On Tuesday, during an interview with CNN's John King, Pelosi said that a Gingrich presidency "isn't going to happen" and that she was sure because of information she was aware of.
But Boehner says he doesn't know what Pelosi is talking about.
"I have no idea what she's referring to. But it's Nancy Pelosi. Who knows?" Boehner said.
Gingrich himself downplayed Pelosi's insinuation during an interview Wednesday morning with the "Today" show.
"She lives in a San Francisco environment of very strange fantasies and very strange understandings of reality," Gingrich said.
"I have no idea what's in Nancy Pelosi's head," he added. "If she knows something, I have a simple challenge: Spit it out."
Pelosi has insinuated before that she has dirt on the former Speaker, telling Talking Points Memo in December that she would reveal the information "when the time is right."
“One of these days we’ll have a conversation about Newt Gingrich,” Pelosi said. “When the time is right. … I know a lot about him. I served on the investigative committee that investigated him, four of us locked in a room in an undisclosed location for a year. A thousand pages of his stuff."
Gingrich fired back then, saying any revelations by Pelosi would "totally abuse the ethics process and violate the rules of the House of Representatives."
"I want to thank Speaker Pelosi for what I regard as an early Christmas gift," Gingrich said at a press conference in December.
A spokesman for Pelosi later said she was "clearly referring to the extensive amount of information that is in the public record, including the comprehensive committee report with which the public may not be fully aware.”
