Santorum picks up key Colorado endorsements

Tancredo is a Tea Party favorite in Colorado, where he ran for governor in 2010 as a member of the American Constitution Party. Tancredo lost handily to current Gov. John Hickenlooper (D), but trounced the Republican candidate in the race, Dan Maes, nearly relegating the Republican Party in Colorado to minor party status.

Tancredo is known for his strong opposition to illegal immigration, and like Santorum, is against any path to amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Santorum also received the endorsements of former Rep. Bob Schaffer (R-Colo.) and former Colorado Lt. Gov. Jane Norton (R), according to The Associated Press.

Santorum left Florida before Tuesday’s primary to concentrate on states with caucus-style elections that award delegates proportionately. The former Pennsylvania senator won the only Republican caucus-style election so far, nipping Mitt Romney in Iowa by 34 votes.
