Sen. Kirk’s condition upgraded to ‘good’
Sen. Mark Kirk's (R-Ill.) condition was upgraded to "good" on Monday.
The upgrade comes two weeks after Kirk suffered a stroke. He has been hospitalized since.
"Sen. Kirk is making good progress in his recovery," Northwestern Memorial Hospital neurosurgeon Richard Fessler said, according to NBC Chicago. "We anticipate he will be able to start the rehabilitation phase soon. We are very pleased with his continued improvement."
Kirk has undergone multiple surgeries to relieve brain swelling as a result of his stroke.
Fessler said that Kirk is likely to recover in a matter of weeks or months but will likely retain some paralysis on the left side of his body.
