Police investigate death near Lincoln Memorial

A man was found dead near the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday morning.

Reports said U.S. Park Police found the body in West Potomac Park. Several calls from the area had reported hearing shots fired shortly before.

The Park Police turned the investigation over to Washington, D.C. police and said they were unsure if the man was the victim of a homicide.

Authorities provided no further information on the investigation or the identity of the victim.
