Santorum to make 'major announcement' in Ohio

Rick Santorum's campaign said Friday it was making a "major" campaign announcement in Columbus, Ohio.

The former Pennsylvania senator's campaign was mum on details about the announcement. Just a few hours ahead of the 2 p.m. event, however, there were indications that it would be an endorsement by a prominent supporter of Mitt Romney who decided to switch sides.

Top government officials in Ohio who have endorsed Romney include Attorney General Mike DeWine (R) and Rep. Jim Renacci (R). Former Sen. George Voinovich has also endorsed Romney.
