In total, five Romneys — none a close relative to the presidential candidate — will appear on Paul's behalf.

Troy Romney, a University of Utah student whose grandfather was cousins with Romney's father, said Paul "stands for the values and principles America was founded upon."

The material value of the endorsement — especially coming from the fringes of a sprawling Romney family tree — is likely minimal, although Paul is clearly seeking the type of media splash he earned when Rick Santorum's nephew, John Garver, endorsed his campaign.

Paul also hopes the endorsements could rally support in the Mormon community, which is active in early-voting caucus states, such as Idaho, where Paul sees the greatest opportunity to win delegates.
