Pro-Santorum super-PAC makes $260,000 ad buy in Louisiana
The pro-Santorum super-PAC Red, White and Blue Fund is making a $260,000 ad buy in Louisiana.
The television ad buy, which the super-PAC announced on Tuesday, is focused primarily on comparing President Obama's energy policies to Rick Santorum's.
"We are confident tonight will be a good night and we are now looking at other states to add to our momentum," Red, White and Blue Fund adviser Stuart Roy said in a statement. "President Obama’s energy policies have been a disaster but Rick Santorum has an energy plan to not only bring down the price at the pump but also to create the jobs we need at home."
In recent days, Santorum's campaign and the Red, White and Blue Fund have focused on energy policy. At an energy forum on Monday Santorum criticized Obama for what he said was not adequately embracing oil drilling.
"We have a president shutting down, as we know, federal lands for oil and gas development," Santorum said according to The Mississippi Press. "He crows about energy production being up as his energy secretary says he is for eight dollar a gallon gasoline."
At the same event, Santorum also said it was important for Republicans to pick a candidate who could challenge Obama on energy policy — a claim he's used on a number of policy topics to argue that rival Mitt Romney should not get the Republican nomination.
"We want to make sure we have a candidate who can go up against President Obama and who can make the case about energy in our future," Santorum said according to the Mississippi paper.
Louisiana's primary will take place on March 24.
