Pro-Santorum super-PAC making $304,000 ad buy in Wisconsin
A pro-Rick Santorum super-PAC is spending $304,000 on television advertising in Wisconsin.
The advertising, by the Red, White and Blue Fund, will start Tuesday, according to Stuart Roy, an adviser for the super-PAC. Roy said the ads will go up in Milwaukee and Green Bay on broadcast and cable.
The television ads come ahead of Wisconsin's primary on April 3.
Santorum's ad buy, though, will be dwarfed by a pro-Mitt Romney super-PAC that is spending $1,000,000 on advertising in the state, according to CNN.
Trailing Romney in delegates and in national polls, Santorum has continued to win states, evading efforts from the former Massachusetts governor to deal him a knock-out blow.
On Monday, during the first day of the Supreme Court oral arguments on the Obama administration's healthcare law, Santorum went to the steps of the high court to use the case to highlight criticisms of his rival's record on healthcare reform.
At the court, Santorum said the Massachusetts healthcare law passed while Romney was governor of the state — and which Romney critics say provided the framework for the Obama administration law — makes him "uniquely disqualified" to be the Republican presidential nominee. Santorum has repeatedly argued that the Massachusetts law would make Romney a weak opponent in a general-election match-up, unable to draw distinctions on the president's signature domestic achievement.
