Bella Santorum, who suffers from Trisomy 18, a rare chromosomal disease that's usually fatal in children, entered a Virginia hospital on Friday. In response, Santorum canceled his campaign events on Monday to remain with her.

On Monday, Santorum campaign officials said Bella had been recovering quickly and was likely to be discharged sometime near the end of the day.

Prior to the Friday hospitalization, Bella has had to visit the hospital two other times in the last three months. The Santorum family has declined to give specifics for why Bella was most recently hospitalized.
