Tim Pawlenty clears 2012 campaign debt, closes presidential committee
Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) has brought his presidential campaign committee out of debt and filed to officially terminate it, records released Tuesday show.
Pawlenty’s presidential bid ended in August, but Pawlenty for President remained open with roughly $435,500 in debts, public documents indicate.
“It was truly an honor to run for President of the United States,” Pawlenty said in a statement, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Donors continued to contribute to Pawlenty’s campaign after his resignation from the Republican nomination race. This month he cleared his campaign debts with approximately $18,500 in receipts this period, including a $2,000 donation from former White House hopeful Rep. Michele Bachmann’s (R-Minn.) Michele PAC in March.
The campaign committee also filed termination papers to officially end the campaign.
