Additional charges filed against White House shooter
The man accused of shooting an assault rifle at the White House in November has been indicted on two additional counts, according to a report from The Associated Press.
Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, 21, a resident of Idaho Falls, Idaho, was already facing 17 charges stemming from an incident in which he is accused of firing at the presidential residence. Neither President Obama nor first lady Michelle Obama were at the White House at the time.
The Secret Service said one of the bullets fired by Ortega broke a pane of the White House’s exterior glass before being stopped by a second pane of stronger glass. Another bullet was found embedded in the exterior of the White House.
Ortega's attorney entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf during a hearing Friday.
