Nancy Reagan meets with Mitt Romney, offers endorsement
Former first lady Nancy Reagan offered her endorsement of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney on Thursday night after meeting the candidate at her California home.
Romney and his wife, Ann, visited Reagan at her Los Angeles home, where the widow of former President Ronald Reagan served lemonade and cookies.
"Ronnie would have liked Gov. Romney’s business background and his strong principles, and I have to say I do too," Reagan said, according to the Romney campaign.
The former first lady is still recovering from broken ribs sustained about seven weeks ago. Last week, she skipped a speech at the Reagan Presidential Library by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) because her doctor had advised her to avoid large events.
Romney press secretary Andrea Saul tweeted a picture of the Romneys meeting with the former first lady Thursday night.
