Romney campaign running anti-Obama billboards in Florida
Mitt Romney's campaign is taking aim at President Obama in Florida on 13 billboards lining streets in Orlando.
The 13 electronic billboards "feature Florida small-business owners upset by President Obama’s 'you didn’t build that' comments," according to the Romney campaign.
Romney and other Republicans have hit Obama hard over the remark, claiming he values "the collective" over the hardworking individual. Obama addressed the criticism in a TV ad released by his campaign, saying his words were taken out of context.
"Of course Americans build their own businesses," Obama says in the ad. "Every day, hardworking people sacrifice to meet a payroll, create jobs and make our economy run."
The billboards will be up Wednesday and Thursday, greeting Obama during his campaign trip to Orlando, where he plans to deliver a speech on his "vision to restore middle-class economic security" on Thursday afternoon.
The Tampa Bay Times has a photo of one billboard lit up at night.
