David Koch named as Romney delegate to Republican convention
David Koch, the billionaire manufacturing and energy industrialist who, along with his brother, Charles, has dumped millions in outside money into the 2012 campaign, has been named as one of Mitt Romney's delegates to the Republican National Convention.
Koch was one of 34 at-large delegates listed by the New York Republican Party, according to a report in National Journal.
The Koch brothers are major political donors, and the primary funders behind Americans for Prosperity, an influential — and big-spending — conservative advocacy group. Earlier this week, Americans for Prosperity announced a $24 million ad buy across 11 battleground states, in addition to some $17.6 million the group has already spent this year.
The New York delegation to the Republican convention includes other big political names, including former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former Gov. George Pataki and Mitt Romney senior adviser Dan Senor.
