The Senate minority leader delivered a scathing
speech Wednesday hitting the president for failing to solve the country's problems.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) delivered a scathing speech at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night, saying that President Obama has spent more time on his golf game than solving the country's problems.
"For four years, Barack Obama has been running from the nation's problems. He hasn't been working to earn reelection. He's been working to earn a spot on the PGA tour," McConnell said.
McConnell also accused Obama of making Americans more aware of personal trivia about him, such as what music he's listening to, rather than how he plans to avert possible upcoming tax hikes.
"We know what the president's got on his iPod, but we don’t know what he plans to do about a looming tax hike that could trigger yet another serious recession that would result in even more Americans losing their jobs," McConnell said. "Ladies and gentlemen: America cannot afford another four years of this."
The Obama administration, McConnell continued, wants to move the country further to the left.
"It wants the kind of government-imposed equality that in a single generation transformed Western Europe from a place where for centuries high achievement and discovery and innovation were celebrated and prized, to a place where they have elections about whether people should have to work," McConnell said. "Where they make promises they can't keep and write checks they can't cash."
The speech will, of course, included praise of Mitt Romney. McConnell said the former Massachusetts governor is the right person for the nation's "desperate need of leadership."
McConnell's speech isn't the only one that will include high praise of Romney — Paul Ryan, Romney's vice presidential running mate, plans to paint Romney as the nominee who can solve the biggest problems the country currently faces.
