

Biden and Emanuel to watch first lady's speech together

Vice President Biden and former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel will watch Michelle Obama's Democratic National Convention speech from Biden's suite at the convention.
Officials in both Biden's office and the Obama campaign confirmed to The Hill on Tuesday the vice president invited Emanuel, now the mayor of Chicago, and Emanuel's family, to join Biden and Dr. Jill Biden in their suite to watch the first lady's DNC speech.
Earlier in the day President Obama said he would watch his wife's speech with their two children from the White House. Obama will arrive in Charlotte, N.C., on Wednesday afternoon.
"I'm going to be at home and I'm going to be watching it with our girls and I'm going to try not to let them see their daddy cry," Obama said at a campaign event in Norfolk, Va. "Because when Michelle starts talking I start getting all misty. But I'm looking forward to being in Charlotte myself."
Obama will deliver his own speech on at the convention on Thursday.

Emanuel had been planning to stay in Charlotte from Tuesday morning through Friday but a teacher's strike in Chicago caused him to change plans and return to the city on Wednesday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
