Visiting Qatar, Holder calls for justice
Attorney General Eric Holder on Thursday vowed to work with Libya to bring the U.S. Embassy’s attackers to justice as he strongly condemned the killings of four Americans at the consulate.
Holder told a crowd in Qatar that the FBI has opened an investigation into the attack in Libya, which killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.
“Today, we condemn — in the strongest possible terms — the deplorable and savage acts of violence that claimed [Stevens’s] life and those of the three other brave Americans who served with him,” said Holder in his prepared remarks at the Arab Forum on Asset Recovery.
Holder made his first public comments since the attacks at the first Asset Recovery forum in Qatar, which is an attempt at partnering with Arab countries to trace and recover the financial assets that former dictators and corrupt governments amassed while in power.
