Rep. Akin attack ad charges McCaskill using Senate seat to 'cash in'
Rep. Todd Akin's (R-Mo.) Senate campaign released a new ad on Friday accusing Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) of using her Senate seat to "cash in."
The ad, "Selling Us Out," alludes to a report in the Daily Caller that McCaskill's husband used the Senate dining room floor for business deals.
"It's been revealed, Claire McCaskill's husband was caught cutting business deals in the U.S. Capitol's Senate dining room, selling tax credits tied to Obama's stimulus money, money Claire McCaskill voted for. McCaskill uses her position and power to cash in," the voiceover in the ad, which is set to air across Missouri, says.
The voiceover in the ad goes on to mention a separate report which noted that until recently McCaskill owed almost $300,000 worth of back taxes on her private plane, which McCaskill said she plans to sell.
"It's no surprise that McCaskill thinks she's above the law, she didn't pay her taxes but voted to raise ours. The arrogance and corruption of Claire McCaskill," the voiceover continues. "Dealing herself in. Selling us out."
Recent polling has shown McCaskill leading Akin.
