One of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's (R) advisers denied a report that the governor turned down an invitation by Mitt Romney to appear at an event with him on Tuesday.
Christie adviser Bill Palatucci denied a report in The Huffington Post on Monday that said Christie turned down an invitation by Romney to appear at a campaign event on Tuesday, according to CNN.
The report came a few days after Christie toured some of the hardest-hit parts of his state with President Obama. Palatucci added to CNN that the Romney campaign "knew better than to ask, given the situation here."
Christie shrugged off suggestions that the appearance would hurt Romney's chances of being elected president.
"I have no idea, nor am I the least bit concerned or interested," Christie said about a week earlier. "I've got a job to do here in New Jersey that's much bigger than presidential politics, and I could care less about any of that stuff."
