VP Biden attends Costco grand opening in DC
Vice President Biden attended the grand opening of a Costco in Washington, D.C., on Thursday.
Biden was greeted by Costco CEO Craig Jelinek and co-founder Jim
Sinegal, who were present for the store’s opening ceremony earlier in
the day.
Sinegal endorsed President Obama and held a fundraiser for him at his home in New York in late July. But that didn’t prevent Mitt Romney and his wife, Ann, from gushing about the company during the campaign.
“It’s got great produce,” Ann told Fox News in late August.
“She also got me one of these three-packs of shirts the other day from Costco,” Mitt added. “And they’re very nice shirts.”
D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray, who is under investigation by federal prosecutors for alleged campaign violations, was also on hand for the ceremony.
While there’s a Costco only four miles away from the White House in Arlington, Va., the opening of Washington's only bulk discount retailer is expected to bring hundreds of jobs to the District.
