Dem lawmaker arrested in August for intoxication
Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio.) was arrested in August for public intoxication but the case was dismissed, his office confirmed to The Hill on Tuesday.
Ryan was arrested on Aug. 25 and later released after pleading not guilty. His case was dismissed by a Rockbridge, County, Va. judge on Tuesday.
“Congressman Ryan made clear at the time of the citation and ever since that he was not intoxicated, and we’re pleased that the court agreed," Ryan spokesman Pat Lowry said in a statement. "Congressman Ryan was found not guilty and the case was dismissed.”
The report also noted that Ryan had been considering a challenge to Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) in 2014. Ryan has said he would decide over the next few months whether to jump into the race.
