Biden to lunch with middle class to push tax plan
Vice President Biden will lunch Friday with a group of middle-class Americans in the latest push from the White House intended to pressure congressional Republicans to support an extension of the Bush-era tax cuts for incomes under $250,000.
The White House did not advise where the vice president would be dining with the middle-class taxpayers, how many would be in attendance, or who was on the guest list.
But according to a White House official, at least one of the participants was chosen after using the "My2K" Twitter hashtag that has been promoted by the president during the "fiscal cliff" negotiations.
Both Biden and President Obama have made photo-ops with taxpayers and supporters a key part of their push in the fiscal cliff negotiations. On Thursday, Obama visited a middle-class family in Northern Virginia to discuss the potential impact of failing to reach a compromise tax deal. The president also has a campaign-style rally planned for next Monday in Detroit.
