Obama orders flag flown at half-staff in honor of Sen. Inouye

President Obama on Tuesday ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii).

Obama's proclamation came a day after Inouye died at age 88. The proclamation lasts until sundown on the day that the nine-term senator is buried. 

Inouye died after being hospitalized a week earlier for breathing issues.

The proclamation extends a previous one by Obama ordering flags at half-staff to honor the victims of a shooting massacre in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday. 

Flags at government buildings were to fly at half-staff through the 18th in honor of the 26 victims shot during the massacre.
