Manchin, Huntsman to lead nonpartisan group No Labels
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman (R) will serve as the new national leaders of the nonpartisan group No Labels.
Both politicians have built reputations as centrists who are willing to buck their party. Manchin, a former governor of West Virginia, has often broken with President Obama, while Huntsman has been a fierce critic of the GOP since his failed presidential bid.
No Labels, a 501(c)(4) organization devoted to nonpartisan problem-solving, was launched in December 2010 and has members from across the political spectrum.
Huntsman and Manchin will debut as the leaders of the group on Jan. 14. The New York City event will feature “congressional problem solvers” from both the House and Senate who are “committed to meeting regularly to build trust across the aisle,” according to No Labels.
