Obama returns to DC after Hawaii vacation

President Obama is back in Washington after a holiday vacation to Hawaii.

The first family touched down on the White House lawn at 11:30 Sunday morning. The president, first lady Michelle Obama and their daughters were accompanied by Valerie Jarrett, a family friend and senior adviser.

The president interrupted his vacation last week to fly back to Washington for last-minute talks over the "fiscal cliff," but returned to his native Hawaii after lawmakers passed a deal extending the expiring Bush-era tax rates for middle-class families.

Obama signed the legislation on Wednesday while in Hawaii, using an autopen, a device that emulates the president’s signature.

Obama does not have any public events scheduled for Sunday.
