Organizers unveil Obama inauguration smartphone app
The Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) on Monday unveiled a new smartphone app for President Obama's second-term swearing-in.
"This is the first official smartphone app built for a presidential inauguration," PIC digital director Nate Lubin said in a statement. "We wanted to build a tool that will enable us to reach new people in new ways. This app does just that."
The app allows users to locate and RSVP to, as well as live-stream, inaugural events. There's also a map to help users locate events, along with a full schedule.
The app was released about a week before the 2013 presidential inauguration.
President Obama will be officially sworn in on Sunday at noon at a ceremony at the White House. But the public ceremony at the U.S. Capitol and parade will be held on Monday.
On Sunday, organizers performed a dress rehearsal of the inauguration.
