President Obama will meet with reporters in the East Room of the White House on Monday at 11:15 a.m., the White House announced.

It will be the final press conference of Obama's first term, and was announced at the last minute — just two hours before it's scheduled to take place. Gun policy and the debt-ceiling fight will likely be tops on reporters' list of questions for the president.

Obama took heat from some in the press for his infrequent appearances in the Briefing Room during the 2012 campaign cycle.

However, with a number of high-profile battles looming with congressional Republicans, the president has spent more time engaging the Washington press corps.

On Friday, Obama and Afghan President Hamid Karzai held a joint press conference to address the U.S. military drawdown in the country.
