King: 'Blind Sheikh's' letter shows ongoing danger

The letter is attributed to “Blind Sheikh” Omar Abdel Rahman, who was convicted of planning the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

“From his US prison cell and through his attorney, Rahman ordered the 1997 Luxor Massacre of Western tourists in Egypt, which killed 62, and the Islamic religious ruling the late al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden relied upon to 'justify' the 9/11 attacks,” King said in a statement. “Similarly, this latest claimed letter from Rahman calls for "revenge ... in the most severest [sic] and violent of manners!"

The chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence said that Rahman must continue to be held under the strictest Special Administration Measures, adding that imprisoned terrorists’ communications should be limited and continuously monitored.

“I call again upon President Obama to state publicly that Rahman will die in an American prison," King said.
