Sen. Alexander's Tennessee home burglarized
The Nashville, Tenn., home of Sen. Lamar Alexander (R) was broken into Tuesday afternoon, according to local police.
A leather jewelry box in the shape of a pirate's treasure chest, around 75 pieces of silver-plated flatware, and a four-piece silver-plated tea set, among other items, were stolen, WBIR-TV reported.
Nobody was at home at the time of the burglary, which was reported by Alexander's wife, Honey.
"I think that there were some delivery boxes at the rear door. The burglar or burglars probably knocked on the front door and didn't get an answer, they came around back, they discovered those delivery boxes there, saw no one inside and then forced their way in," Don Aaron, a spokesman for the Metro Nashville Police Department, told the network.
"There was no indication to the police department presently that home was targeted because of who lives there, but rather because the crime of opportunity presented itself," Aaron said.
