A second police vehicle in Jindal's motorcade struck a utility pole in the accident; a trooper in that vehicle sustained minor injuries. The driver of the truck was issued a citation for making an improper turn.

Jindal was in Washington Friday to address the Conservative Political Action Committee, where he warned fellow attendees of being caught in a "very small and short-sighted debate."

“Today’s conservatism is too wrapped up in solving the hideous mess that is the federal government,” Jindal said. ”Our objective is to grow the private sector... We must not become the party of austerity, we must become the party of growth.”
