The sit-down will be the first appearance the former president has made on "The Colbert Report."

The interview will be conducted at Washington University in St. Louis, where the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) is being held April 5 to April 7.  CGI U aims to "engage the next generation of leaders from around the world."

"I am thrilled and honored to be interviewing President Clinton, and I assume he is aware this is happening," Colbert said in a statement.

Although the interview will be Clinton's first appearance on Colbert's show, he has previously appeared on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart." Colbert's show is produced by Stewart's Busboy Productions Inc. and Colbert's Spartina Productions Inc.

The interview will air on "The Colbert Report" on April 8, according to Comedy Central.
