According to spokeswoman Kathleen Strand, Emanuel, now the mayor of Chicago, "was seeing old friends and colleagues at the White House and talking about Chicago priorities."

Emanuel's visit followed an appearance in Washington, D.C., alongside former President Clinton. Clinton and Emanuel appeared together at the first meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Infrastructure Financing for Cities Task Force.

The visit also came as law enforcement perform a massive manhunt for the primary suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing on Monday. Chicago sent a number of police officers to help in the investigation but Emanuel's office would not say whether the investigation came up during his visit.
