"Mayor Menino and Governor Patrick are humbled by the support shown by the public and the business community, and they continue to encourage everyone to visit onefundboston.org to make a donation to help the victims of this tragedy," said a statement released Monday by the mayor's office.

The president also observed a moment of silence in the Oval Office one week after the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings in December. Last week, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) led a moment of silence on the House floor in honor of the victims of the bombing.
