An FBI agent shot and killed a man early Wednesday morning who had been previously interviewed about his connection to deceased Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, according to multiple media reports.
“We are currently responding to a shooting incident involving an FBI special agent,” the FBI told NBC News. “The incident occurred in Orlando, Fla. The agent encountered the suspect while conducting official duties. We do not have any further details at this time. We expect to have more information later this morning.”
Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his younger brother Dzhokhar are suspected of detonating shrapnel-packed pressure cookers at the finish line of the Boston Marathon last month, killing three and wounding more than 200 others.
Tamerlan was killed in a gunfight with police after a harrowing chase that provoked a citywide shutdown and door-to-door search in the Boston metropolitan area.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is in custody and awaiting trial.
