Secret Service 'aware' of Santa Monica shooting near Obama fundraiser

A Secret Service spokesman said that local police were handling the shooting.

"We are aware of the incident and it is not impacting the visit. It’s a local police matter at this point," Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan said in a statement.

Three people were reportedly wounded at the college on Friday. Obama attended a set of fundraisers at private residences in Santa Monica the same day.

Obama was scheduled to take the Marine One helicopter back to the airport in Los Angeles but, in response to the investigation about the shooting, instead returned to the airport by motorcade, according to a White House pool report.
