Sen. Klobuchar headed to Iowa in August

The event will be at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, on Aug. 16. The Iowa Democratic Party announced Klobuchar's speech on Wednesday.

Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) will also attend the event. Braley is running for retiring Sen. Tom Harkin's (D) Senate seat.

Klobuchar has been mentioned as a potential candidate for president in 2016, albeit as more of a dark horse than former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vice President Biden.

Klobuchar will be the first possible 2016 presidential candidate from the party to visit Iowa since the 2012 election, according to The Des Moines Register.
