Obama hits the links to start weeklong vacation on Martha’s Vineyard

President Obama began his summer vacation on Martha’s Vineyard with a rare public view of his golf game.

Obama golfed on Sunday with former aide Marvin Nicholson, White House chef Sam Kass and former Council on Jobs and Competitiveness member Robert Wolf.

The foursome played their first hole in view of the press corps that is traveling with Obama.

The president missed his first putt and overshot his first hole by 15 feet, according to pool reports.

The president reacted to the miss “by leaning back and kicking his knee up, as if trying to coax the ball into breaking right."

“He let out a little, ‘Ooooh,’ as it happened,” the report said.

The first family will be on the Massachusetts island for a weeklong vacation.
