King suggested he may invite other Republican 2016 presidential hopefuls hunting, as the Iowa caucuses draw closer.

“Hopefully, we will be able to go out and do a lot of hunting in the name of presidential campaigns,” King said. “I think that is a good cause.”

King took former Sen. Rick Santorum, (R-Pa.) bird hunting in December 2011, ahead of the 2012 Iowa caucuses. Santorum dropped out of the contest for the Republican nomination in April 2012.

Cruz has already spent time in Iowa and will return to speak at the Iowa Republican Party’s annual dinner this October.

His eligibility to run for president has recently been questioned because he was born in Canada. Cruz said in mid-August he would renounce his Canadian citizenship because he’s an American.
